Background:
On the Feast of S. Catherine of Siena, 2024, the Order published the first known Rite of Exorcism unique to the spiritual needs and theology of the Episcopal Church in the United States. The Rite is the product of extensive theological, liturgical, and scientific discernment, and has been externally reviewed by Anglican Scholars.

Copies of the Rite may only be purchased by Bishops in good standing in full communion with the See of Canterbury. Bishops may then distribute copies to their respective authorized ministers and deliverance teams. Each copy is $24 per book, with a one time $5 shipping fee. Bishops who would like to request copies will need to download the form above and send a signed and stamped or sealed copy to [email protected] from a known diocesan email address. The Brothers strictly enforce this, and all other requests will be denied.
The Rite contains liturgies for the exorcism of a person, place, and object. It also contains special prayers for the episcopal commissioning of authorized deliverance ministers and diocesan exorcists. The Rite is primarily inspired by historic Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic prayers with a reputation for its spiritual efficacy, supplemented by prayers found throughout the Anglican Communion. The Rite is printed on a high quality matte US letter hardcover, with cream pages, large text, and rubrics in red.

Excerpt from the Preface of the Rite:
Bishops within the Anglican Communion are permitted to use or adapt the liturgy for authorized use as appropriate, upon consultation with the Order. The Rite of Exorcism must not be entered into lightly, and is only to be performed by consent of the Local Ordinary (usually Bishop Diocesan). The Episcopal Church’s Book of Occasional Services stipulates that “...the bishop [then] determines whether exorcism is needed, who is to officiate at the rite, and what prayers or other formularies are to be used.” A minister should not, under any circumstance, attempt to perform an exorcism alone. At least one other associate, ideally a baptized Christian of testifiably strong faith, should be present for matters of safety. A principal exorcist should be identified, and should be the sole person to preside and authoritatively make commands. The role of the associate is largely supportive and acts as an intercessor, fervently praying for Christ’s liberation...

...It is the responsibility of the Exorcist and their Bishop to discern whether or not an exorcism is indicated beyond a reasonable doubt. Consulting with psychological and medical professionals, experienced Exorcists, and one’s Bishop will help inform the decision if this Rite is to be used.

Certification by the Office of the Prelate

BE IT KNOWN that on the 29th day of April in the year of our Lord 2024, the Provincial Council of the Order reviewed the proposed liturgy entitled “Anglican Rite of Exorcism for Use by Authorized Ministers”. Having shown no moral or theological error, nor opposition from members of the Council, and having been reviewed by episcopal authority and the Order’s theologian: the liturgy is adopted as proposed, and is approved for ordinary liturgical use in the Order by properly authorized ministers under the conditions set forth by the Rite. It has also been approved for distribution to bishops in good standing in the Anglican Communion who request copies of the liturgy for use.
